Beyond the Curated Highlight

By the Pace with Grace editorial team

We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

You know the feeling: scrolling through feeds, watching the highlight reels of other people's lives. It's easy to get caught up in the comparison game.

But here's the thing: everyone's highlight reel is curated. Everyone's struggles are real, but rarely shared.

We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field which God has assigned to us.

2 Corinthians 10:12-13

Paul's talking to the church in Corinth, telling them to stop comparing themselves to others. To stop measuring their worth by someone else's standards.

So how do you break the comparison cycle? By focusing on your own story, your own strengths, your own weaknesses. By being honest about your struggles, and seeking help when you need it.

God, I get caught up in the comparison game. I feel like I'm not enough, like I'm falling behind. Help me focus on my own story, my own strengths, my own weaknesses. Help me see my worth in your eyes, not in the eyes of others. Amen.

When this hits in real life.
